The Mako V1 canoe did not have a typical product launch. It was more like a blind audition. Every paddler who qualified for the 2023 U.S. Nationals sat with nervous anticipation at the starting line in this unfamiliar canoe. This was their chance to qualify for the IVF World Sprints Championship.

The adjustable, carbon iako provides optimal clearance in the front and back for paddling. It’s light yet offers rigid support to keep the ama securely in place and minimize vibration. The iako hardware can be precisely adjusted millimeter by millimeter with greater range to accommodate more paddlers’ weight.
So, the iako and ama can be easily positioned for your physique as well as your personal style of paddling and level of experience. Push it inward for more speed or desired tipping with less drag from the ama. Push it out for more balance or to maneuver through choppy seas.
This ama has added volume to help paddlers maintain balance or negotiate cresting waves, yet it can be raised in calm conditions to reduce or eliminate any drag that could slow you down.
The front of the canoe is as sleek as possible to drive through the water, rather than above it. So, your paddle connects with the water and leverages the power of each stroke.
The Mako hull has the signature ARE Tahiti shape, based on the success of the Marara V1’s design.
